Nairn County’s 2nd XI continued their dominance of the NOSCA Reserve League with a victory over Ross County at the Links last Sunday.

Nairn were put into bat and seemed in trouble with an early loss of a wicket in the second over. After this Jason Brandsma came into bat and put on a 49 run partnership with opening batsmen Iain Macleod. This partnership was broken when Macleod was bowled out for 20 runs. Following this partnership, Jason Brandsma went on to score 46 runs before being run out. Stephen Anniss also made 33 runs which helped Nairn on their way to scoring 160 runs for 7 wickets.

After the Interval Ross County were put under substantial pressure by the Nairn bowling attack which resulted in the quick dismissals of the opening batsmen. The visitors showed signs of resistance towards the middle of the innings but Nairn eventually found a way to make the break through with the ball. Ross County was eventually bowled out for 55 runs. The pick of the Nairn bowlers were John Sargent and Steven Neill who each took 3 wickets. Nairn’s juniors played a crucial part in THE win with Jason Brandsma scoring 46 with the bat and taking 2 wickets with the ball. Shane Hayward had another great performance with the ball taking 2 wickets for only 3 runs in his spell. Ronin Brandsma also played a role in the win.
