Nairn County’s second XI suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Elgin last Sunday at Cooper Park. Elgin won the toss and put Nairn into bat. The opening pair of Alex Green and Jason Brandsma had put on a 105 run partnership before the Nairn captain was caught out on 66 runs. Jason Brandsma then went on to score his first ever half-century in senior cricket. Nairn finished the innings on 213 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. The pick of the batsmen was Jason Brandsma who scored 86 runs.

In the second innings, Elgin came out and started their innings strongly with their opening pair putting on an 110 run partnership before Alex Green dismissed one of them. Unfortunately, for Nairn, this would turn out to be the only wicket of the game as it was rained off in the 27th over. Elgin won the match through NOSCA’s rain calculator.
